January is coming to an end – I hope you’ve all had a great month. I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown.
Reading wise I finished one of the books I highlighted last week and started the other. I finished the readalong of Chimes at Midnight which I loved. Reviews to come: Deadlight Jack, Chimes at Midnight, Dawn Study and The Black Wolves of Boston.
Last week’s reads:
- The Grey Bastards by Jonathan French, which is my SPFBO book – I’m currently reading this one and so far so good.
- The Black Wolves of Boston by Wen Spencer – urban fantasy and evil Wickers – I completed the Black Wolves and my review will follow shortly.
Next week I’m hoping to complete:
- Blood Upon the Sand by Bradley Beaulieu – I CANNOT wait to read this. Twelve Kings was so, so, good.
- In Calabria by Peter S Beagle – because, great writing and unicorns.
And, finally, my cover compare this week:
I don’t think I can choose a favourite – what about you?
What are you currently reading?
I prefer the first style of covers for the Beaulieu books. And I’m currently reading Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames, awesome book.😀
I just read your review of the Wyld book – you really enjoyed that one. I’ll have to add to my wishlist!
Lynn 😀
Yeah, I really enjoyed it, gushing praise throughout my babble of a review.😂
It looks like you’ve had a super set of books to read this week. I prefer the left-hand set of covers, while I enjoy the detail of the right-hand set of ‘Blood on the Sand’ series – the left-hand covers are beautiful with lovely colours and a clean, uncluttered design. Have a great reading and blogging week, Lyn.
I have to say I really can’t choose with these. I love the detailed covers because they were the ones I was originally familiar with – the other covers are so striking though.
Lynn 😀
I’d agree:)
I agree, I love both covers, they are so different and yet each has a special quality:-)
They really do – I couldn’t possibly choose!
Lynn 😀
For the first set, I choose the first cover; for the second set, I prefer the second.
Hah, I love that you chose one from both set.
Lynn 😀
I literally just finished In Calabria. Beautiful writing and unicorns indeed. I think I’ll also start The Grey Bastards sometime in the next couple of weeks, can’t wait to compare notes with you 😉
I’m finishing the Grey Bastards tonight – I know it’s on my monthly round up but I will finish it in January so it’s not cheating I hope. I am loving it and providing the end doesn’t screw up I think this will be my favourite so far!
Lynn 😀
I have seen The Grey Bastards on twitter a few times, kind of love that cover. Not sure if that is a war hog or what but it is wicket looking.
This cover is bloody amazing. I love it and the book is brilliant. Well, so far, I have to read the end – tonight!!
Lynn 😀
I’ve set myself an alert for February 7th, when Blood Upon the Sand comes out, so I will not miss it 🙂 One of this year’s more anticipated books…
Oh yes – I cannot wait. CANNOT WAIT!
Lynn 😀
