New Year new beginnings.  I’m hoping to do a very quick and short weekly wrap up that will quickly outline what I’ve read and what I’m hoping to read next, plus any other bits and pieces of information.

So, over the past week I’ve read the following books:

Defender by G X Todd – I really enjoyed this.  A post apocalyptic novel – it’s all about the voices inside your head!  Review to follow shortly.

Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day by Seanan McGuire.  Another very good read by Ms McGuire.  Emotionally captivating with ghosts, witches, rats and fields of corn.  Review to follow shortly.

I’m currently reading:

Rosewater by Tade Thompson – I’ve only just started this one so it’s too early to say very much other than an intriguing story apparently about aliens!  Looking forward to reading more.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber – ‘Welcome to Caraval, where nothing is quite what it seems.’ – I can say straight away that I am loving this one.   I’ve read over 150 pages in one sitting already!

Cover compare:

I quite like all three of these but if I had to choose the first is my favourite.

Are you looking forward to any of these books?

Caraval looks very interesting. Couple of my friends on Goodreads have rated it very highly.

I will be rating it highly too – very good indeed.

Cool, I find weekly wrap ups/roundups very helpful for organizing my reading and setting goals for myself so here’s hoping it works for you too! Also hope you’re enjoying Caraval 🙂

I’m hoping this will keep me focused – but you know what they say about ‘the best laid plans’. Just finished Caraval and really loved it!
      Lynn 😀

Rosewater is one of the most quoted titles in recent times, and I find it quite intriguing: looking forward to your review!

Perhaps they will help keep me on track = or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
      Lynn 😀

I’m assuming you finished Caraval by now… what did you think? Agreed that the first cover is my favorite!

I really liked it tbh. It felt kind of indulgent in some respects but it certainly held my attention. The ending was a bit shocking in some respects but even with that I liked it – have you read it?

      • Amanda @Cover2CoverMom

I’ve been trying to decide if I should pick it up or not!

      • @lynnsbooks

Well I really enjoyed it – but it did feel kind of indulgent!
        Lynn 😀
