10 Things I Like About Harry Potter

Ahh, let me count the ways!  There are so many – great books, great films, amazing actors, interesting themes, steadfast friendships, loving families, evil baddies, spells, bewitched objects.  I could go on and on but I’ve decided to have a bit of a theme and go with Flora and Fauna:

Gillyweed – and more to the point the results achieved by taking it!  Swimming underwater with gills and all!

Mermaids – Peter and Wendy never had to put up with mermaids like these! Scary.

The ultimate guard dog!  Three heads not one.  Although one sweet lullaby and you could be in the clear.

Mandrake – ‘Whenever unearthed, the root screams. The scream of a mature Mandrake when it is unearthed will kill any person who hears it, but a young Mandrake’s screams will usually only knock a person out for several hours’

Aragog – do I need to elaborate – huge spiders! Huge. Spiders.

The Womping Willow – A majestic tree with a bit of an anger problem!

The Hippogriff that we’d all love to befriend.  Buckbeak.

Thestrals – the huge beasts that are used to pull the carriages from the station to Howarts.  ‘A Thestral is a breed of winged horses with a skeletal body, face with reptilian features, and wide, leathery wings that resemble a bat’s. They are very rare, and are considered dangerous by the Ministry of Magic. Thestrals are, undeservedly, known as omens of misfortune and aggression by many wizards because they are visible only to those who have witnessed death at least once or due to their somewhat grim, gaunt and ghostly appearance.’

Devil’s Snare – another one of the traps set to protect the Philosopher’s stone – don’t mess with this!

Dragons – because – DRAGONS!!
