No.27 War of the Worlds by H G Wells
As part of Vintage Sci Fi month being hosted by Little Red Reviewer I’ve given myself a small challenge to post a vintage book each day – one that I’ve read – and to highlight some of the covers. Today’s choice is : War of the Worlds by H G Wells. I’ve just read and reviewed this. On balance, a good book with some great quotes. I personally preferred The Time Machine by Wells. Review here. I preferred The Time Machine too. I loooove the 1946 cover, but i’m bias, because it’s the one i own. Shame about the book *cough* (I quite hated it).

1986 is my favorite easily. Followed by 1972. I particularly like the price for the 1972 edition 😉

I haven’t read this one, but I bought it a few weeks ago. I really like the 2012 one.

2012 for me. Sometimes I can be turned off by a cover if it looks “too vintage” and I didn’t see any that really popped out at me out of the pre-2000 covers 🙂

HGW was my first “favourite author” long ago.

These are all quite classic/timeless looking covers – I think my Kindle edition has the last cover. I hope to get round to some H G Wells soon 🙂
