“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. Every Wednesday we get to highlight a book that we’re really looking forward to. My book this week is The Vanishing Throne, No.2 in The Falconer series by Elizabeth May. Not long to wait for this one (in the UK at least) due out on the 19th November. I really enjoyed the first and look forward to picking up a copy of this.
The covers are lovely, both UK and US, but I admit I love the vibrancy of the US covers.

Yes!! So excited to get my hands on this. I usually like UK covers better, but in this case you’re right. The US covers fit the story much better. The UK covers feel a little old fashioned to me, and this is quite a contemporary story.
I quite like that she looks ready for action – but the US colours are so vibrant.
Lynn 😀
This is one of those rare instances where I have a hard time choosing between the UK and US covers. Very different styles, but both are striking.
Yes, I do like the UK covers for the way she looks set ready for action – but the colours in the US version are so lovely they just draw the eye.

I actually just preordered the UK copy from Book Depository! For this book, I would have waited, except I have the first book in the UK edition from a giveaway win and I just have to have matching covers 😀
The funny thing is I considered buying the US versions because I love the covers. But, like you, I want matching covers and I have the first in the UK cover.
Lynn 😀
I still need to read The Falconer!
Haha – you can’t read absolutely everything I suppose.
Lynn 😀
I am sooooo excited to read this book! I’m in the USA so I’ll be waiting a while again. Theoretically I could buy the UK version, but I want the USA version to match my USA hardcover. 😀 I hope you enjoy this book when you read it!
Have a fabulous day. 🙂
Check out my WoW post!
Absolutely – you have to keep your covers all in-keeping!
You have a lovely day too.
Lynn 😀
I think I like the US versions better. The others seem to busy. I haven’t read the first one but have heard good things about it. I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks.
I sort of like both covers but I see what you mean about the UK version. I absolutely love the colours in the US books – they’re so vibrant and eye catching.
Lynn 😀
The US covers are so beautiful. I love the painted feel. Actually, I love painted cover art more than photography based ones, usually, so hands down the US covers would grab me better. I wonder what sort of thoughts go into formulating the two styles of cover?
Yeah – I wonder that too, not to mention why the difference between UK and US – I’d love to know how they decide which one will work best. I definitely prefer the US covers in this instance.
