Be my Valentine!
No, not what you think. As today is Valentine’s Day I’m sharing the love for a few good books. This is going to be a very quick ode to books! A brief snippet of reading pleasure.

Books – can’t live without em!

Oooh lots of books on your list that I heart to:-D Great idea Lynn!
I actually intended it to be a bit like a story told through books that I’ve read – but I didn’t take the time that I should have! Oh well.
Lynn 😀
Lovely idea!
Wishing you a Happy Valentine,
Dina, Klausbernd, Siri & Selma xxxx
You too Dina 😀 😀
Oooooooh Lynn! So The Sisters Brothers is good then? Bought it a couple weeks ago.
I loved the Sisters Brothers. I hope you enjoy it.
So pleased to see The Hobbit on this list 🙂
It’s a classic!! and LoTR.
Lynn 😀
Talking of which I have nearly finished a re-read of The Fellowship of the Ring. I think it might be even better than I remembered 🙂
Definitely a great list! Happy Valentine’s Day indeed!
If I had to list the books I wanted to be my Valentine, I would definitely ask Dracula and The Graveyard Book and The Time Traveler’s Wife to be on my list too. Along with:
Neverwhere
The Lord of the Rings
The Anne of Green Gables series
The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death
The Adventures of the Stainless Steel Rat
A World Out of Time
Thanks Carl – as I love your opinion I will look up the others books from your list too! You never steer me wrong!
Lynn 😀
I see a fair number of classics there, way to go! The Time Traveler’s Wife and The Troupe have also been on my to-read list for ages, I guess that’s two more ideas for my 2015 backlist challenge. And oh, very surprised and pleased to see the Sisters Brothers on this list. I read it a few years ago even though it’s not my usual spec fic, because you know I can’t resist a good western 🙂
I loved the Sisters Brothers. Completely not my normal cup of tea – but my friend thought I’d like it and I loved it! I read literally nothing but classics for a good few years – simply because I read my dad’s books and it never even occurred to me at that point that there was a whole world of books out there. Then my friend at work opened up my eyes to all her best loved books and I went from there! I was very naive!
Lynn 😀
Great list! A belated Happy Valentine’s Day!
Jane Eyre is my favourite Bronte sisters book and I went and read Wide Sargasso Sea after it.
The Woman in White I read in uni and enjoyed it.
The Sisters Brothers was really good. I checked it out of the library, read it and then bought it. I let my mother read it and she loved it.
Well, we all know The Lies of Locke Lamora… and we’re all waiting for the latest in the series!!!
The Sisters Brothers was one of those really remarkable books – I didn’t expect to like it and ended up loving it. I just can’t recommend it enough. I wish I had more surprises like that one.
I actually had a different idea for this post but I’m just too impatient – plus I basically made an error and published it when I actually meant to edit! Oh well, My original intention was to show through a very small glimmpse of my reading from being little to teenage to now – you should do this with film. It didn’t work for me because I’m an unbelievable maniac but I think actually it would be a really interesting project. Sort of shows how your tastes have developed.
Lynn 😀
I did something like this with an anime heroines post so people can get an idea of what I watched since I was a kid.
I guess you can still do your original post and just add some more info!
I most certainly can’t! I assume these are some of your all time favs!?
This post didn’t really go according to plan. I planned it to be a little history in books – however – being a bit of a maniac – I pressed the publish button and then had to just race through to finish it. I was originally going to try and do like a reflection of my books through life – just maybe capture about 30 books is all. Anyways, the best laid plans and all that! And, yes, these are some of my favourites. However there seems to be a few missing when I look at it! Perhaps i’ll try it again at some point and be more careful – my ‘book timeline’.
Lynn:D
Jane Eyre is everything. I seriously adore that book! When my dad wants to bug me, he calls it “Jane Eyre-head.” Grrr! Haha. I’m loving Outlander on TV but I confess that I haven’t actually read the books…shame on me! I really want to though. Maybe this summer. I’ve actually heard that The Bronze Horseman has a comparable romantic historical fiction vibe to that of Outlander. Thanks for the Valentines 😉
I also love Jane Eyre such a good book and I really liked the old B&W film with Orson Welles!
The Outlander Books are actually hugely entertaining – although the series has gone a bit long for me and I finished reading after 5 or 6! I think you would like the Bronze Horseman – it’s a great story set in Leningrad during the siege of WWII. There’s a great romance – forbidden of all things! On top of that, if you don’t like Alexander – well, I would be simply astonished! And, the setting is just so intriguing to read about too. It’s a big chunkster of a novel though.
Lynn 😀
