Surprise! This is not from the Tough Guide but fits the spirit of it well. So let us say for this topic the weapon either needs to be A. Named, B. Famous, or C. Sentient. Thanks to Mogsy for the idea!

Nice turn of the phrase, people can be weapon’s too huh! If that is the case then I officially add Smoke from Linda Nagada’s Puzzle Lands series.
Wellllll, I’m not entirely sure that I wasn’t being a bit downright cheeky there, but, nothing ventured – I was trying to come up with five different headings but couldn’t think of a fifth – I nearly put animals on there.

Haha, good, I’m glad they count – I figured I was being a bit cheeky but I didn’t think Nathan would have me thrown in an oubliette or anything (he’s pretty chilled out!)

Oh durrrr! I completely missed the sacred swords in Dresden Files! I don’t know how, since they were such a huge focus of the last few books. And here I thought that I’d be looking mostly at epic or traditional fantasy in my list this week, but I realized too that there are a lot of named/famous weapons in UF too 🙂
The sword of Michael was the first weapon that came to mind – I think it’s because I’m still fairly early on in the series. Then I thought of a bunch of other weapons that I couldn’t really have as I’ve not read the books!!! Damn it – I need to just start out and out lying.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of Dresden Files!!! Also “Graceling by Kristen Cashore – Katsa – a deadly assassin and the King’s favourite ‘weapon of choice’.” is perfect too!! The One Ring is also a good choice!!! Love love!
I thought of the Dresden Files first for some strange reason.

There’s a few named blades in The Wheel of Time, and the series also has several magical weapons – they are mostly little figurines or jewelry, but they get special names and can wreak a lot of damage. I love the weapons in The Iron Druid Chronicles and The Dresden Files.
i knew that the Wheel of Time would have lots of contributions but of course I haven’t read them (I considered asking you and just plain cheating but don’t tell anyone!).
I love the Druid Chronicles and the Dresden Files. I was trying to think of jewellery – wasn’t there a necklace in Harry Potter??

Hermione’s time turner, and there was an evil ring. Harry Dresden also has his jewelry,and of course the evil coins (they’re kind of a mental weapon).
How do you remember all of this. Im useless!
Interesting choices. The first sword that came to mind for me was, of course, Sting! After a bit of thought though I would also pick Kring the magical sword with a mind of it’s own who is determined to make Rincewind the wizard a hero in The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett 🙂

Dang it, Fragarach!!! I knew I was forgetting a major sword. I didn’t even think of the One Ring as a weapon, but you’re completely right – it’s the baddest weapon for sure (if not the biggest, haha).
I was actually trying to think of different objects and the ring was the most famous I could come up with! I’m sure there must be other jewellery or items but my brain wouldn’t find them for me!

I really want to continue that Kevin Hearne series – I’ve only got through the first one so far.
I think I’ve read 3 or maybe 4 – I need to press on. I have one on my kindle just sat waiting – it’s amazing how you can forget how many books you actually have when some are e-books!
