Desperately seeking books… 2014 ‘Most Wanted’

Top ten 2014 releases we’re dying to read

I love the topic over at the Broke and the Bookish this week (Top Ten Tuesday).  It gives me a chance to look at what books I’m looking forward to in the New Year.  Now, I’m pretty sure that I’ve missed some but feel free to remind me:

  1. Sworn in Steel by Douglas Hulick (May)
  2. Prince of Fools by Mark Lawrence (June)
  3. City of Stairs by Robert J Bennett (don’t know when this is due?? Somebody, anybody, chuck me a bone with this one please)
  4. Morningside Fall by Jay Posey (May)
  5. Night Terrors by Tim Waggoner (June)
  6. Murder by Sarah Pinborough (May)
  7. Icefall by Gillian Philip (March)
  8. The Last Oprichnik by Jasper Kent (not sure)
  9. The Doors of Stone by Patrick Rothfuss (no idea at all but on that basis it could be 2014 – glass half full, etc, etc)
  10. Remains open… although if Scott Lynch would like to release the next in the Gentlemen Bastards….

That’s it for now.  If you can think of any more I should have on this list then feel free to chuck out suggestions.  (Why are May and June so popular – what about Jan/Feb!!!)

It kind of fades away against your pale background… 😦

To be honest – I didn’t even put it on there. I think my husband tinkered with it! Guess it would show up on a nice dark background but then I’d have to do different coloured fonts etc and really I just don’t think I can really be bothered with. I’m so lazy!!

Right now Words of Radiance, the second Stormlight Archive book from Sanderson is at the top of my list.

Good call – I’m reading the first book for a readalong in January so that I’ll be ready for the new one!!

Geez, I didn’t get to any of the must reads of 2013 and you’re planning 14.

Can Not Wait for the next Jasper Kent book!!!!! he put those first three out pretty quick, any idea why this last one is taking forever (or maybe it just seems like it’s taking forever). I wouldn’t hold my breath for the Rothfuss.

Have you not read The People’s Will?? I really enjoyed it. In fact I think the last one is due out next year sometime.
      Lynn 😀

I’m foaming at the mouth for Morningside Fall and even Night Terrors as well! I’ll have to take a peak into the rest on your list!

There are a few series involved in my ‘wants’ but they’re all good and I strongly recommend – especially Rothfuss, Lynch, Lawrence and Kent. Oh, what am I saying – all those books on there are from just amazing authors! Seriously, check them all out – I don’t think for a moment you’ll regret it.
Thanks for stopping by. Love your blog btw.

Thanks! – I definitely will. I met Lynch and was so ashamed that I hadn’t read his book yet! I love the man Rothfuss but I haven’t read his books yet either shhhhh don’t tell anyone its because I’m waiting for the final one to come out so i can binge read – cause HELLO did you see the breaks between publication! Torment I tell y ou!!

      • @lynnsbooks's avatar lynnsbooks

Rothfuss is just brilliant – both his books are excellent. I know what you mean about the L O N G wait though! Mind you sometimes I go off reading a book if I start when all the writing is complete – like King of Thrones – there’s just so many pages published it’s a bit daunting. I also love Scott Lynch – his books are full of world building detail and he comes up with the best curses and insults you’ve ever read – it just makes me chuckle!
        Lynn 😀

yes I admit I could end up screwing myself on that front. But with someone like Rothfuss I think it would be worth the wait to devour all at once. Isn’t it supposed to just be a trilogy?

      • @lynnsbooks's avatar lynnsbooks

Yes, a trilogy. I’m quite glad about that to be honest – I don’t think I want to get into any more massive series, although it can’t sometimes be helped – especially when you start reading and have no idea just how many books there will be!
