Riddle me this…

This is really random but I thought I’d share it with you because I’m odd like that.

Last night – or more to the point early this morning – I was having a very odd dream.  I was on the bus going to work, as you do, so far so normal.  Except of course that my mum was also coming to work with me and my dog Dude!  That’s probably a bit more odd because I can’t actually take my dog into work (unless I want to lose my job) and I’m damn sure I wouldn’t be taking my mum!  Anyway.  We stopped gabbing for long enough to realise the bus was stopped, and had in fact been stopped for quite some time.  At this point the surly bus driver turned round and snapped ‘this bus doesn’t go any further’ – even though it seemed to be a rather strange place to stop. So, we got off as told.  At this point in the dream I mysteriously seemed to acquire some more goodies.  I now seemed to be the owner of two cows (yes cows, big udders, make a noise like ‘moo’, produce milk), both of which were wandering in the road nearly causing an accident whilst Dude had gone running in the opposite direction because why wouldn’t he?  He wasn’t on a lead after all.  I also seemed to be carrying two rather large bags of what appeared to be dirty washing!  Really?  Yes, it’s perfectly normal to take your dirty laundry, cows, pets and mother to work – I do it all the time.  Don’t you?

Anyway, back to the stray cows.  Fortunately, I seemed to also suddenly acquire a long piece of rope with which to round up the bovines and the unruly mutt – with no help from my mum because that would have been too convenient – only to return to find somebody had stolen my dirty washing and my handbag.  Why?  Maybe they took pity on me and took it home to wash.

Let me tell you I was getting a bit exasperated at this point in the dream and had made the decision to return home when I woke up!

So, all you dream masters out there – WTH is that all about.  Have I actually just gone insane??

I know this is an odd thing to share but I couldn’t resist and I’ve got it out of my system now!

In my experience a perfectly normal dream! The funny thing is, the brain actually solves problems with all this nonsense … I wake up in the morning and know exactly what I’m going to say in that funding application, or how I’m going to tackle that dilemna, or even the next Chapter of a book I’m working on – even though the problems didn’t seem to relate to the dream at all! But we are privileged, Lynn – my husband either doesn’t dream or doesn’t remember them. Think of all the fun we have when we’re asleep!

I must say I’ve never had cows before in my dreams – although I have been able to fly, which was actually quite cool because I was being chased at the time. I’ve also driven a car before now (and I can’t actually drive). Still, why cows!

Freud would way that it’s a manifestation of your desire to want to drink milk but you refuse to because you think it’s something that your mother told you to do and no one ever wants to listen to their parents.

Or something like that, I would just say that it’s a very fun sounding dream, and I applaud the fact that you remember your dreams that well. I normally remember them for a very short time after I wake up, and then they’re gone.

Hah! I like that Freudism – I definitely wouldn’t drink milk (I don’t like it!) – that would have turned this into a nightmare! I do remember my dreams – unless I jump out of bed on the last minute and go rushing around!

Dude, I have no idea except your dreams are way more vivid than mine. and I hardly ever remember so much detail, if anything. Can you leave my laundry in the dream if someone actually does wash it for you. That would be a great help.

Unfortunately the washing is all still present – in fact it’s becoming a dangerous hazard (if you could call dirty laundry a hazard – well it could fall on you and suffocate you with nasty odours, which is a terrible way to go).
My dreams are mental, unfortunately they sometimes turn into nightmares that would probably even scare Stephen King! This particular one was quite amusing. I figured it means I’m too busy at the moment. Therefore I have to take my chores to work, and my mum (because I don’t see her enough) and my dog (because I don’t take him on long enough walks!)(Guilty commplex at all!). Don’t know quite how the cows fit into that scenario – maybe they represent people!!! Haha, I’m going to have to think who the cows are!

I think it was a dream forced upon you by the Coalition of Cows, their not-so-subtle method of trying to get you to adopt cows. After all, they are so cute and cuddly.

I think my dog would object! That’s probably why he ran in the opposite direction in the dream! LOL
