Book Covers…
Today I have been invited to write a guest piece over at Dark Cargo. The theme is book covers and looks at a few random thoughts and ideas. I must admit that I’m a sucker for a good book cover, check out the book cover below which I spotted on a review over at the Little Red Reviewer – this is a gorgeous cover! Call over to Dark Cargo and join the discussion about what makes a good cover – or simply to share your favourite!

Fun, I’ll head on over there and check it out.
Hi Carl.
Just to move away from covers – I’m still reading loads of books that I’ve picked up on the back of your RIP event. I’ve got in front of me right now A Monster Calls – which looks amazing, although sad, Fever, We Have Always Lived in the Castle and Blacklands – plus I’m reading The Yard which is a detective novel that was also recommended.
I loved it and feeling a little sad it’s all over!

I have A Monster Calls. An internet friend sent me a copy…cool looking book…because they are assured that I will like it and I don’t doubt them at all. Just haven’t yet taken the time to read it.
We Have Always lived in the Castle is great, or at least I thought it was when I read it a few years ago for a R.I.P. event. I’ve seen The Yard in the bookstore. Very tempting looking novel.
I’m almost half way through The Yard and enjoying it – I haven’t really read a lot of detective novels recently so this makes quite a change. It’s quite dark being set in the times of the Ripper. I’ve literally just finished A Monster Calls. It’s a very quick read, beautifully illustrated and really quite a tear jerker. I loved the whole notion of the three stories which kind of made me think of A Christmas Carol. Not so much a coming of age as a coming to terms and made me also think of Connolly’s Book of Lost Things – which was another book that I really enjoyed.
Looking forward to We Have Always Lived in the Castle.
Lynn 😀
Cool! It’s nice to have you playing over at DC too!
Thanks. I’m enjoying reading your reviews on Dab of Darkness btw. And, if you have an absolute ‘must read’ to throw at me please feel free to do so.
