Sunday Post

I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week.  I rather got out of the habit of doing so but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track.  So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s  Caffeinated Reviewer.  Without further ado:

Books read this week:

Where is the time going – is there a black hole somewhere sucking it up – or is it just me.  The days are flying by, it’s crazy.  Anyway, this week I’ve managed to complete Starling House by Alix E Harrow.  This is a Gollum book for me – by which I mean it ‘burns and freezes us’.  I loved it, and sometimes I didn’t love it, and then I loved it again.  I can say, it’s beautifully told with fairytale elements and a strong gothic vibe.  I’ve also started and expect to finish today Olivia Atwater’s The Witchwood Knot – and I’m loving it so far.

I’m curious to read your review of Starling House. I had mixed feelings but mostly enjoyed it.

Yes, I think that’s precisely how I felt. And the writing is superb, plus I loved the gothic mansion.

Can’t wait to read The Witchwood Knot! I’ve been waiting to pick up Starling House because I keep seeing these mixed reviews. Maybe I’ll try the audiobook soon.

Yeah, it’s a funny onion. On the one hand it’s a gorgeous book. I had a couple of issues but I still really liked it. It has a fairytale feel and parts of it reminded me of Beauty and the Beast.

This year has really flown by, it’s ridiculous how quick it’s gone.
Looking forward to your Starling House review 😀

Yes, I wish the time would slow down a little, I’m getting dizzy with how quick this year is flying by.

Ooh, tough choice, The Reformatory or Temple of Fortuna next. I’m soooo looking forward to the finale of Elodie Harper’s trilogy.
