Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below – the list has been updated to help out those of you who like to plan ahead – if you have a cover in mind that you’re really wanting to share then feel free to leave a comment about a future suggested theme. This week’s theme:
“He sounded like a man who had slept well and didn’t owe too much money.” – A cover that is ‘noir’
I had one obvious choice for this week’s theme which I think is suitable and has the word ‘noir’ in the title – so win/win: Noir by Christopher Moore
My covers:
My favourite this week:
There was only one winner this week – it has to be the first cover which is just so spot on for the theme in my opinion:
Leave me a link and I’ll add you to the list 😀
Next week – a cover for a mystery novel

I really love this meme! Christopher Moore has quirky books that’s for sure and Noir, is perfect and that font! Is that a snakes tail in the bottom left-hand corner? I agree with your choice as well but the other one is nice too. It’s more modern I think. So yea. So you haven’t figured out how to insert/install the linky widget yet? Mr. Linky is what I use and all you need to do is register for an account.

Thanks 😀
I love this meme too – I love covers and this is just one way to give them a spotlight.
Mr Linky – no I haven’t figured it out – it seemed like I have to sign up for a different WordPress account by the looks of it so I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to do that. I’ll have another look to see if I’ve got the wrong idea.
Lynn 😀
No, heck. You don’t need anything but to register for an account with mr. linky. I mean I can put a mr. linky widget on my post just to show you. I can also remove it afterwards. You’ll need to insert it every week, which is fun. My wordpress is free.
Yes, I agree. 🙂
Thank you 😀
Great choice, and you get bonus points for a book that includes the word “noir.” I love your pick, definitely the best one!
Thanks Tammy – I only had a couple of possibilities and this was the only one with more than one cover.
Lynn 😀
Love this cover you picked! It’s so pulpy. 🙂
Yeah, my exact thoughts 😀
[…] This is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, but currently run by Lynn’s Book Blog. […]
I agree completely with your choice. The other cover is weird 😂😂

Yeah, I’m not fond of the other one either.
Lynn 😀
Lyn, it worked! It is easy without having to add everyone’s links by hand. Just install a few lines of code and voila! People should be able to use it lol
Thanks Jackie 😀
You’re welcome 🙂
Perfect, spot-on cover: it reminds me of some movie posters from that era… 🙂
Thanks Jackie -I’ll take a look.
Lynn 😀
Thank – it also puts me in mind of a movie poster.
Lynn 😀
I like this one the best too.
Thanks Greg. I guess I had a 50:50 chance of picking the best one eh?
Lynn 😄
This would have been my book pick if I hadn’t found another one this week, so I already knew which I would like best – definitely your choice!
I was astonished that we all found different covers tbh. This was tougher than I expected.
Lynn 😄
That right one looks…very odd, to say the least! Definitely the left one for me. I love the “distressed magazine” look of it :D. And I really should join you guys on this sometime!
Yes. Join us. Do. Next week is murder mystery. You’ll smash it!
